Your Paid Subscriptions Bought Furniture and School Lunches for a Kindergarten in Uganda
The Sahaya-BACHO School, Uganda
Dear Readers,
I am tremendously honored that you have subscribed and are reading my posts. Although my posts will always remain free, I have had several people pay to subscribe as a way of showing their support for my writing journey.
Recently, the total income from subscriptions hit $1,000. (I can’t believe it.)
To celebrate, I gave it all away. And it feels great.
With joy in my heart, I sent $1,000 from your subscriptions to support the purchase of furniture and supplies for a kindergarten school with 120 students in rural Uganda. Donations are being matched up to $5,000, so the impact of our donation was doubled. You can read more about the story of the school and their needs here:
http://bacho.sahaya.org/kindergarten/
Once the furniture and supplies are bought, additional donations will buy school lunches and the teacher’s salary for the first year.
If you are inspired to donate to purchasing supplies, furniture, and school lunches for this kindergarten in Uganda, please see instructions for how to donate below.
With gratitude, Kristina

The nonprofit helping the school is called Sahaya (http://sahaya.org/), which launched about 30 years ago by my friend and colleague (Dr. Koen Van Rompay) after a life-changing trip to India. This was the first time that he had seen extreme poverty. He vowed to do something to help, and his efforts started small, but grew tremendously over time as others joined him. (Sahaya means “help” in Sanskrit.)

There are three ways to donate to the Sahaya-BACHO School project:
1. https://givebutter.com/BACHO If you use the GIVE BUTTER website to donate, note that when you checkout they automatically add a tip and a processing fee. You can change that easily by clicking on “Edit” to set the processing fee to zero and clicking on “Other” for the tip and entering zero.
2. Donation via checks. 100% of donations made via checks is sent overseas to directly support the programs. Please make your check payable to “Sahaya International”. Because Sahaya has a number of programs in different countries, please indicate that your contribution is for the Sahaya-BACHO School.
Please also provide your email address so we can e-mail you a tax receipt. If you prefer a hardcopy tax receipt to be mailed to you, just let us know.
Mail your check to: Sahaya International, Inc., c/o Koen Van Rompay, 1504 Portola Street, Davis, CA 95616, USA
